Who Is Brent Coleman?

I'm Brent Coleman, a New Zealand finance creator and banking professional. I research and explain investing, KiwiSaver, mortgages, tax and personal finance for everyday Kiwis. I run one of New Zealand's largest investing and personal finance YouTube channels, built on practical, research-led explanations.

What Is Brent Coleman's Finance Background?

I built my finance career across New Zealand and Singapore, with experience spanning banking, investment, venture capital and financial services. I studied a Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons., Finance) at the National University of Singapore on a full scholarship, with a further semester at ESADE Business School in Barcelona. During this time I completed internships with ANZ, Neptune Orient Lines and Willis Towers Watson. From there, I spent two years working in a Singapore family office that held approximately SG$300 million in dry powder at its peak.

After returning to New Zealand, I continued my career in financial services, building practical experience across financial products, rates, fees, data and technology. That background is what shapes how I research and explain investing, KiwiSaver, mortgages, tax and financial products for New Zealanders today.

Why I Started The Brent Coleman Channel?

I started the channel in 2022, after finding myself watching a lot of personal finance content from creators in the United States. The problem was that so much of it revolved around 401(k)s, Roth IRAs and financial products that simply weren't relevant to people in New Zealand.

I figured Kiwis deserved something of their own. So I started creating videos about the financial decisions we actually face here, and the different platforms and products available to New Zealanders.

What Topics Do I Cover?

Most of my content focuses on the financial decisions that matter most to New Zealanders. This includes topics like KiwiSaver, investing, saving money, and buying your first home. It tends to resonate most with people in their 20s, 30s and 40s who are earning, investing and thinking seriously about building wealth over time. For every topic, I research the actual numbers, fees, and tax treatment behind the options, then break them down into something practical my audience can act on.
