This Privacy Policy explains what personal information brentcoleman.com collects when you visit, why, and what I do with it. It applies to this website only, not to any third-party site you reach through a link on it. I'm based in New Zealand and this policy is written with the NZ Privacy Act 2020 in mind, but it applies just as much if you're visiting from Australia or anywhere else.
If you sign up for the newsletter or use the contact form, I collect the details you provide, typically your name and email address, so I can send you updates or reply to you. I don't ask for or store any financial account details, passwords, or ID documents anywhere on this site. Like most websites, I also collect some technical information automatically, such as your approximate location, device and browser type, and which pages you visit, through the analytics tools described below.
This site uses Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to understand how people use it, overall traffic, which articles are popular, and where visitors are coming from, so I can improve the content. These tools use cookies and similar technology, and the data they collect is processed by Google under its own privacy terms. Forms on this site are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks you're a real person rather than a bot; it processes some technical data to do that, under Cloudflare's own privacy policy. Some links on this site are affiliate links (see my Disclosures page): if you click one, the provider you land on may set its own cookies to track the referral. I don't control those cookies, and they're covered by that provider's own privacy policy, not this one.
You can ask me at any time what personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it, for example by unsubscribing from the newsletter or emailing me directly. I don't sell your personal information to anyone, and I don't share your email address with third parties except the service I use to send the newsletter itself (Kit). You can also control cookies through your own browser settings, including blocking or deleting them, though this may affect how some parts of the site work.
