What is SuperEasy?

SuperEasy is the brand name for the superannuation schemes run by Civic Financial Services, a not-for-profit organisation owned by local government. It has two schemes: the SuperEasy KiwiSaver Superannuation Scheme and the Local Government Superannuation Scheme.

SuperEasy is the default KiwiSaver provider for over 90% of New Zealand councils.

What can you invest in?

Both schemes use the same five funds, which cover different risk levels and are managed by Harbour Asset Management New Zealand Limited and ANZ New Zealand Investments Ltd.

  • SuperEasy KiwiSaver Superannuation Scheme: open to council staff and their whānau, under the standard KiwiSaver rules.
  • Local Government Superannuation Scheme: for council staff only. The council doesn't have to contribute, and some councils restrict when employer contributions can be withdrawn. You can access your money before 65 if you change employers.

The SuperEasy KiwiSaver Superannuation Scheme charges:

SuperEasy stands out for its not-for-profit structure, its low all-in fee, and its role as the default KiwiSaver scheme for most NZ councils. It is worth a look if you work for a council or have family who do.
